What is an Apprenticeship?

Union apprenticeships are programs that provide hardworking individuals with the skills they need for a career in the construction industry. Apprentices receive on-the-job training from experienced tradesmen and women in their field, along with specialized classroom instruction. The result? Comprehensive knowledge of a certain trade that allows you to help build communities and make a difference.

Let's dig into the benefits

Hands-on training, real-world success.

Apprentices put in a full work week on the jobsite alongside the top craft professionals in their field, watching and learning from their years of experience. Practical information and trade basics are shared during evening classes from instructors who have performed the same work in the field.

Earn while you learn — with raises along the way.

From the beginning of your apprenticeship, you'll get to work learning the basics, and start earning a paycheck while you're at it. As you become more experienced, you'll perform more technical aspects of your trade, with periodic wage increases based on hours worked and/or competency.
